The Work
In a bid to motivate people to see their GP for advice around giving up smoking, we created an installation of 219,000 imitation cigarettes in Sydney’s Martin Place, to demonstrate the volume that a smoker of 30 a day would get through in their life time. City workers and passers by were encouraged to walk across the floor of cigarettes, and Stamp Out Smoking. Thousands of Sydney-siders saw the installation, with hundreds taking pictures and tweeting.
To ensure national relevance, we worked with an addiction specialist who claimed cigarettes are more addictive than heroin, which was just the kind of shock statistic needed to ensure mass coverage across print, broadcast and online media.
