The Work
Volley was launched in Australia in 1939, the same year that sliced bread was introduced to Australia, and in March 2011, Volley was reset.
Three styles were reset to their 1959, 1965 and 1975 specifications, and the team at Volley asked us to help them make some noise about these shoes and gain mass reappraisal of the brand via mainstream editorial coverage.
Our insight was that there was a huge latent love of the brand in Australia, and that everyone had a Volley story – from ACDC’s Angus Young who used to paint his white Volleys black before they were available in black through to Evonne Goolagong who won Wimbledon in 1971 wearing her Volleys.
As part of the campaign, we needed to find a way to get media to talk about the launch of two classic styles that were pulled from the archives and lovingly rebuilt: the 1959 Volley OC and the 1965 Volley SS. Click on the video and check out what we did.
